OSCAR Workshop on Computational Algebra, Geometry, and related topics
OSCAR workshop hosted at Warwick Mathematics Institute, University of Warwick, Coventry, UK
June 29 – July 3, 2026
This workshop will be held in the week preceding MEGA 2026 in Durham and in parallel with, and coordinated with, the Warwick Macaulay2 (M2) workshop.
It will provide OSCAR users, and those who would like to become OSCAR users, with the opportunity to “bring their own problem” and work closely with experts and OSCAR developers towards realizing projects in software. Short talks and software demonstrations are planned for the morning sessions; the rest of the time will be devoted to project work.
OSCAR is an open-source computer algebra system for algebra, geometry, and number theory. It was developed mostly within SFB-TRR 195, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, and has seen significant growth in research software tools in its core areas.
The workshop is supported by SFB-TRR 195.
The program is open to participants at all levels of expertise. Unfortunately, no travel or accommodation funding is available.
Planned topics
We plan to have OSCAR developers present in commutative algebra, algebraic geometry, number theory, character theory and universal polynomials, periods of algebraic curves, computeralgebra and AI, serialization and multi-process computing, FAIR data, algebraic statistics, and related topics.
