Seminar: Complex Manifolds

Summer Term 2017

--------------------

News

On 28.06.2017 the seminar will take a break.

The seminar will be Wednesdays 10:00-11:30 in 48-519 starting 31.05.2017.

Please enter you preferences in the Doodle for finding a date for the seminar.

Please register online in the URM system.

--------------------

Goals

The seminar will provide a systematic introduction to complex manifolds, vector bundles and cohomology.

We will look at the following list of topics:

 Manifolds, complex manifolds (Sarah Haufe),
   Griffith-Harris pp. 14-18, and Fritzsche-Grauert
 Subvarieties (Felix Röhrle)
   Griffith-Harris pp. 18-20, and Fritzsche-Grauert
Sheaves and cohomology of sheaves (Jonathan Gruber)
   Griffith-Harris pp. 34-43
Vector bundles, line bundles, sections (Fabian Zickgraf)
   Griffith-Harris pp. 66-71
Divisors and line bundles (Jonathan Gruber)
   Griffith-Harris pp. 128-139
 Chow theorem (Eriola Hoxhaj)
   Griffith-Harris pp. 164-170

The targeted audience are students who have attended or are attending the lectures Computer Algebra, Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Geometry or Curves in Projective Space.

However, anyone with a basic knowledge of commutative algebra is welcome. Knowledge in algebraic geometry is not required.

The seminar is a good starting point if you plan to write any sort of thesis in computer algebra or algebraic geometry.
